Hit a hotkey, your text gets masked. No accounts, no tracking. Just you and your words.
Honestly, not much. And that's kind of the point.
Press a hotkey (default: Ctrl+M) and your text turns into dots. Press it again to see what you wrote. That's it.
- Mini preview corner so you can see what you're typing up close - Whitespace preservation so you can still tell words apart - Spellcheck that works through the mask.
Your notes auto-save to your browser. They never touch a server. Optionally, save your writing to your device as .txt, .md, or .json.
No email. No password. No verification code. Just open the page and start typing. I don't want your data anyway.
No "free tier" nonsense. No premium features. I built this for fun and it'll stay free. If you want to support me, there's a button up top.
Right now masking is just visual. I'm working on adding actual encryption so you can lock your notes with a password and eventually share them with someone else who has that password.
I'm just someone who likes building things for fun. I wanted a place to write personal stuff without worrying about someone reading over my shoulder on the train or at a cafe.
I thought it would be cool to use my favorite framework (shoutout Sveltekit) to create a good-looking, user-friendly app anyone could use freely.
So I built Veilwriter. It does one thing well: let you write without anxiety about who might see your screen. Everything else is just icing on the cake.
